Composite bonding is the ideal treatment for those who are on a quest for the perfect smile. It offers a quick and affordable solution for minor imperfections in teeth. One of the biggest benefits of composite bonding is the fact they can be fitted in just one visit. So, you can walk out the very same day with a whole new smile!

What is Composite Bonding?

Composite bonding, also known as Cosmetic Bonding, is a non-invasive treatment leaving no permanent damage to the natural teeth. This speedy treatment is a great way to disguise the shape, size, and colour of your natural teeth. The process involves adding a tooth-coloured material known as Composite, permanently to the surface of the tooth. It can help to mask mild crookedness, close-up spacing and restore worn down teeth. Also, the shade of the material can be adjusted so it matches your teeth for a natural, seamless look.

How does it work?

The procedure involves matching the filling to the natural colour of the tooth. Then, a gel is used to clean the teeth, followed by a dental adhesive. This process helps to adhere the white filling to the tooth. Finally, the filling is layered before a special blue light is used to solidify it and secure the filling in place. Then, once the shape of the composite has been achieved, your teeth will be polished and adjusted for a natural look. There is no drilling or removal of the natural tooth, only some minimal roughening/sanding so the material adheres better. This procedure is usually performed in one visit in 2-3 hours.

How long does it last?

Composite is durable and wear resistant so it will look at its best for around 6-8 years. At this stage, the composite may have stained or chipped, but it can easily be replaced, repaired, or polished. Although composite bonding is not as durable as veneers, you should be able to wear them for up to 10 years successfully. However, this means taking proper care of your teeth by maintaining good oral hygiene and dietary habits.

Does it damage teeth?

The main advantage of cosmetic bonding is that it does not remove any tooth structure, so the treatment can be reversed. This non-invasive treatment doesn’t come with any major risks, so it makes a popular choice for those looking for a speedy, pocket friendly alternative to veneers.

How much does it cost?

Bonding starts from £200 per tooth for very simple edge bonding, but the more complex bonding is £400 per tooth.
