When Do I Need To Contact An Emergency Dentist?
Identifying a dental emergency can sometimes be tricky. So, if you’re the least bit in doubt that you need an emergency dentist, contact us – it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Some dental emergencies include:
- Wisdom tooth infections and pain.
- You have sustained a tooth injury that has caused a crack or chip.
- Bleeding from the mouth that will not stop.
- Broken or lost bridges and dentures.
- A knocked-out tooth.
Your Dental Emergency Appointment
Step 1: Contact the practice by phone – please do not attend as a walk-in, as we cannot guarantee we will be able to get you seen.
Step 2: You will be triaged over the phone by our friendly reception team. If clinically appropriate, a dentist may contact you, to offer advice on how to care for your mouth whilst you wait for your appointment. We endeavour to see all emergency dental patients within 24 hours.
Step 3: Come in for your appointment and receive the treatment you need. We may request to see you again if follow-up treatment is needed and cannot be carried out at your emergency dentist appointment.
Step 4: We will send you home with the appropriate painkillers and antibiotics (where needed).
We encourage you to get in touch as soon as you can after experiencing a dental emergency. In many cases, the quicker we see you, the more likely it is that we can preserve your tooth and gum health in the long term.
